I was always destined to be a runner as my Dad was a national standard steeplechaser and my earliest memories are watching him in the AAA’s as a young kid. So as soon as he started coaching at our local club then I began training at about 12, and never looked back.
What is your greatest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement obvious has to be competing at the Paralympics in the summer. After missing out four years ago with a stress fracture, being able to compete in front of an 80,000 home crowd was pretty special. Although I’ve actually ran much better races throughout my career to finally call myself a Paralympian was a dream ticked off.
Biggest weekly mileage so far?
Mostly around 65 mile, but biggest ever high 80s probably preceding one of my stress fractures a couple of years ago.
Who is your sporting hero?
Athletics wise two people I admire are Paula Radcliffe and Chris Thompson. Thomo because of the fact he’s from my hometown and has overcome a lot of injuries to grab that european silver a couple of years ago!
What is your favourite sport other than athletics?
Football, without doubt. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
What is your favourite film?
Massive DiCaprio fan so anything with him in, maybe ‘The Departed’ or ‘Gangs of New York’.
If you had the ability to fly, where would you fly to on your first trip and why?
I would fly to New York as it’s the one place I want to go and haven’t been.
What is your favourite food and how often do you get to eat it?
Anything, as long as I’m not cooking and don’t have to wash up.
If you could go on a date with anyone who would it be?
Maybe Zooey Deschanel in ‘500 Days of Summer’ she’s a dream.
