Nick Percy added to the feelgood factor starting to course through athletics in Scotland with another Junior Record discus throw.
The youngster based in the Isle of Wight was in superb form at an event in Germany as he threw 62.21m. Percy beat his own record with that effort and is now looking in very good shape for a Team GB and NI appearance at the European Under-20 champs this summer. Shaftesbury Barnet athlete Nick is unsurprisingly the No 1 ranked discus thrower in Britain at Under-20 with his Halle throw.
He is coached by John Hillier.
‘Congratulations to Nick, his family and his coach on another Scottish Junior Record,’ said Stephen Maguire, the scottishathletics Director of Coaching.
‘He’s thrown very well at a top competition in Halle in Germany and is really performing well. Nick is now ranked highly in terms of European Under-20 discus and is fulfilling his promise.
‘It is early in the season and, in Nick’s case, early in his athletics career but I do see some very encouraging signs from a number of our young athletes and we hope that positive vibe can be maintained in the weeks and months ahead.’
