10 Nov ATW Met League Review & Results from Stevenage

Newham and Essex Beagles’ Frank Baddick won the second AWT Metropolitan XC League fixture of the season at Stevenage on Saturday as Rachel Felton took the honours in the women’s race.

Twenty seven year old Baddick edged out long-time leader Alex Short by one second to take victory in 25:32 as Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ Glen Watts (25:44) completed the top-3.

Baddick led three Beagles inside the top-10 but the combined efforts of their twelve men were only enough for third overall. Highgate Harriers maintained their 100% winning start in the team standings, with Shaun Dixon their leading performer in fifth.

Rachel Felton improved on her second-place finish in the opening fixture at Claybury last month to take victory in the senior women’s race. The Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier saw off the challenges of Basildon’s Gemma Kersey and race one winner Lorna Russell to lead SBH to a narrow team victory.
