I see UKA have just published a summary of new rules/amendments so look a bit bizarre to me : eg.
Rule 188.. The weight of the U13 Boys Shot has been reduced to 3.00 kgs from 3.25 kgs.
Rule 240…Entries from any runners with a medical assistance dog may be accepted, subject to
them being correctly registered and identifiable as such and the approval of the Race
Director ……should be interesting in the 800m.
Apendix4 ….Additional Gender Categories (Road Races): A statement has been added to the effect
that Competition Providers promoting road races may offer a third non binary gender
option within their events
Changing to a 3kg shot seems very sensible as no other age-group appears to use a 3.25 while the 3 is also used by U17 and U15 women plus men over 80 and women over 75. It does seem little point in facilities having to ensure they hold sufficient stock of a weight just for under 13 boys.
