Olympian Allan Scott has joined scottishathletics as an Apprentice coach for the next two years.

The hurdler’s appointment is part of a sportscotland scheme to help stream more elite athletes into coaching involvement across a number of sports.

Scott, a multiple Scottish champion in his event, went to the Olympics in Beijing and the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne during a fine career.

At 31, Allan is very much looking ahead in terms of his career and is delighted to have joined the Performance team at scottishathletics which is led by Director of Coaching Stephen Maguire.

‘We are delighted to have Allan with us now through the sportscotland ‘Coaching Futures’ programme,’ said Stephen.

‘It is an excellent initiative and there’s a great opportunity for him and for us now in terms of his development as a coach.

‘He has competed at a very high level at the World Champs, Commonwealths and Olympics and passing on that experience to others is obviously one of the intentions of this appointment.’

sportscotland announced the apprentice coach programme last week with eight sports involved.
